I first heard Sonny at the Filmore in San Francisco in 1995. We were going to see Buddy Guy, I'd never heard of Sonny Landreth.
There were three acts on the show and my wife and I arrived a little late. There was just one guy on the stage making the most incredible music.
I told my wife, "No way this guy's the opening act." It was Sonny Landreth. The rest of the band eventually came on stage and played a blistering set.
